PowellObamaPowell Standard:  Calling Obama Lazy is racist, but the term Jewish Lobby is fine

Colin Powell appeared on Meet the Press today, to claim that the GOP looks down on minorities, that Republicans oppose Obama not because of policy but because they hate black people.

When I see another former governor after the president’s first debate where he didn’t do very well, says that the president was lazy. He didn’t say he was slow, he was tired, he didn’t do well, he said he was lazy. Now, it may not mean anything to most Americans but to those of us who are African-Americans, the second word is shiftless and then there’s a third word that goes along with it. Birther, the whole Birther Movement. Why do senior Republican leaders tolerate this kind of discussion within the Party? I think the Party has to take a look at itself. It has to take a look at its responsibilities for health care. It has to take a look at immigration. It has to take a look at those less fortunate than us. The Party has gathered unto itself a reputation that it is the party of the rich. It is the party of lower taxes. But there are a lot of people who are lower down the food chain, the economic chain, who are also paying lots of taxes relative to their income and they need help.

Let’s disect this garbage shall we?

“HE SAID HE WAS LAZY”

Lazy.  A term that white people use to describe their teenage sons all of the time, but now learn we are not allowed to use that term for people of a certain color. The governor who said this of Obama was describing the President’s preparation going into the debate. Obama admitted he didn’t prepare well. What was his excuse then? He found time for golf, he found time for campaigning, and other fun stuff.  In fact, Obama called laziness one of his weaknesses:

“There is a deep down, underneath all the work I do, I think there’s a laziness in me,” Obama said in his interview with Barbara Walters that airs Friday night on ABC.

“It’s probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii, and it’s sunny outside and sitting on the beach.”

Obama said he also deplores laziness in others, saying “nothing frustrates me more than when people aren’t doing their jobs.” And when he sees himself getting lazy, “then I get mad at myself.”

Last month, while here for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, Obama said that Americans have become “a little bit lazy” over the last few decades when it comes to seeking out foreign investments.

Little bit of a double standard isn’t it, when a black President can call his citizens lazy, but the reverse isn’t true?

“THE BIRTHER MOVEMENT”

Let me remind Mr. Powell of fellow Obama supporters Sean Penn, Louis Farakhan and Harry Belafonte (who called President Bush “the greatest terrorist in the world”). Should we all assume Mr. Powell shares their views? Why do senior Democrats encourage these people and give them access?   Not to mention Eric Holder’s pals, the Black Panthers.  Like I said, not to mention.

“IT HAS TO TAKE A LOOK AT ITS RESPONSIBILITIES FOR HEALTHCARE”.

This is such b.s.  How many proposals did the GOP advance, only to be shot down by Obama – and his my-way -or-the-highway views on policy? The GOP is well aware of its “responsibilities” — and even more aware of its “responsibilities” of PAYING FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM without breaking the backs of Americans who have to hand over their wallets in return.  (See also:  people lower on the food chain, below)

“IT HAS TO TAKE A LOOK AT IMMIGRATION.”

No duh. Doing that — there have been plenty of GOP voices on this… and Powell knows it.  Everyone with a brain who is involved in political debate at the moment knows it. If they don’t, here’s some reading material.

“THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE LOWER DOWN THE FOOD CHAIN ….WHO ARE PAYING LOTS OF TAXES RELATIVE TO THEIR INCOME AND THEY NEED HELP.”

Powell wants to make a case that Republicans, by wanting lower taxes on all Americans, hate the poor. If this is true, there is hardly a way that Powell can claim to be a Republican. Republicans believe in lower taxes and smaller government, and helping others through charity and personal investments. Democrats are the party that believes that through higher taxes, the government provides those services. As you take money away from individuals through higher taxes, they cannot help the poor. As spending on more and more public services increase, taxes have to incease on all Americans, up and down the food chain. It’s a no brainer. For Powell to make the case that the GOP is racist because the Democrats are intent on spending away our country’s wealth, and have created a higher tax burden on mninorities  – it is not only shameless, it is an ugly lie.

So Gosh. When did Colin Powell start hating white people so much? Was it before or after he voted for Obama twice….admittedly because of his skin color? Oh wait. Voting for someone based on their skin color, not on policy, would sort of fit the definition of racism, wouldn’t it?

Sarah Palin , you are a racist of the first order. The republican party’s opposition of President Obama is based on race hatred. All African americans remember well your support of “Dr Laura’s” “N” word rant. General Powell has only said aloud what 95% of African americans and 71% of Hispanics already know. The republican party is the party of white supremacy and racism. I look forward to the death of the conservative racist movement in America.
