The Left’s Two Minute Hate

Keeps going, and going and going.

Two Minute Hate – Daily telescreen specials in which various elements of crimethink were packaged into a parade of horrible images and sounds, at which, the viewers were expected to boo, hiss, curse. and release any negative emotions upon.  ~ from 1984, George Orwell

The left is such a bunch of groupthinkers trying desperately to please one another.

Take Adam Smith, the former CFO of Vante, who posted a video of himself on Youtube (below) berating an innocent worker at Chick fil A in order to win applause from fellow progressives.  Then, after the SHTF and Vante told him to stay radio silent, and not to post an apology video – he did anyway.  And got himself fired.

There’s no hate at Chick-fil-A – in fact, it has to be full of the most cheerful, pleasant counter employees on the face of the planet.  Cathy, the 91 year old billionaire who founded the company, simply believes that marriage is defined in the Bible as the union of a man and a woman.  His company makes a great chicken sandwich.  There has been no record of any kind of discrimination at the company.  Case closed.  But people like Smith want to expunge the world of people like Cathy, for simply holding an opinion contrary to their own.  For the record, it is the same opinion President Obama held until a few short months ago.  Most of the people in the world, across continents, across centuries, share the same belief.

One thing I’ve noticed, if you want to find militant hatred, it’s often found behind the steering wheel of a car displaying a Tolerance or CoExist bumper sticker.

The problem with the left is they celebrate those who engage in all kinds of bizarre behaviors, but when it comes to tolerating those who simply turn their face from watching — no can do, not allowed!   We MUST watch, we MUST accept, we MUST codify it in some law and give it SPECIAL dispensation.  It’s as if the left wants to hold our face in their hands, forcing us to watch what we find hideous, in the name of “love” and “peace” and “understanding”.

That’s what is so remarkable about the whole Chick fil A protest thing. How the left can’t see its own hypocrisy.  The way that Adam Smith sees himself — “I’m really a nice guy” he says.  “I just can’t stand the hate.”

He must have a lot of self-hatred going on. Therapy might help.

Update: On FoxNews, Rachel [the target of hate on that particular day] says “being in the hospitality industry you deal with lots of difficult customers on a daily basis….he’s definitely not the first I’ve encountered but he’s the first who chose to videotape the interaction”. And — she forgives him.

The whole Chik-fil-a thing leaves me mystified.

If you want to see what hatred can do, think of the Sikh temple, think of the burned mosque in Missouri.

A video on YouTube being the benchmark for hatred? You must be kidding.

It leaves me mystified as well. Chick fil A sure isn’t burning mosques in Missouri or shooting up Sikh temples, is it?

Absolutely not, but it’s trivial enough to catch the attention of the press. Almost makes you nostalgic for the days when Lindsay Lohan dominated the headlines, doesn’t it?

If the left is so tolerant why do they continuously take offense at everyrhing we say think and even eat?

I don’t know who you have in mind as “the left,” but there are plenty of people on both sides of the political fence who don’t take umbrage at the dietary habits and political expressions of others.

There is, of course, a lunatic fringe who believe that every word spoken by a conservative is pure evil, just as there is a lunatic fringe on the right that abhors any expression by a liberal.

To the extent that the rest of us allow the lunatic fringes to set the tone of political discourse, we are participating in the breakdown of the democracy that we claim to revere.
